1998 - Antiquorum, 31 Oct 1998, est CHF28-32,000, unsold, "Albert H. Potter & Co., Geneva, No. 109, circa 1880. Rare 18K gold, hunting cased, keyless pocket chronometer. C. Three body, massive, " bassine et filets" engine turned, the cover centred with the monogram "F. P." and engraved inside with the name of the owner "Frank Parmelee ", the back centred with the date: "1880" . Glazed gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 21"', nickel plated, calibre patented on January 4, 1876, "fausses cotes " decoration, 21 jewels, majority in screwed gold settings, great wheel screwed on to the barrel cap, patented on October 11, 1875. Pivoted detent escapement patented on October 11, 1875, shock absorbing counterpoised and off-set passing spring. Two-arm cut bimetallic balance, free sprung helical balance spring with terminal curves. Signed on the dial and movement. Diam. 56 mm. Due to the date engraved on the hack of this watch, it is possible for the first time, to date it with precision" |
